Third of motorists admit to driving with no MOT

A third of motorists have driven a car knowing the MOT had expired, risking fines of up to £1,000 and invalidating their insurance in the process. That’s according to a survey conducted by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), which found that of 1,000 UK motorists, 67% had driven without an MOT for up to a week, 24% for a month, 7% for six months and – shockingly – 2% for more than six months. Now we’d give the 67% who admitted driving without an MOT for a week the benefit of the doubt – it’s easy to forget the test is due.

The German firm has performed some key tweaks to make its new 2014 A4, A5 and A6 Ultra models even more efficient. Ferrari has been on the phone this morning to explain that the man from Autocar who spoke to LaFerrari’s chief designer, Flavio Manzoni, got hold of entirely the wrong end of the stick when discussing the design elements Ferrari didn’t use on LaFerrari. It seems Manzoni was explaining that during the design process for LaFerrari there were many design elements that couldn’t be included on LaFerrari, but were so good they wanted to keep them for use on future Ferraris. That was seized upon as confirmation that Ferrari were planning a ‘Super’ LaFerrari to sit above the new supercar at an even more extreme price.
